What's the Difference Between Clients and Client Users? - UpStream Documentation Skip to content

In Upstream, a “Client” is a business, a company, a firm, an agency or even a freelancer that you deal with as a business.

Don’t think of a Client as a person. You can create “Client Users” that are added to each client.

So, if you are working on a project with Apple, this is would be your set-up:

  • Client: Apple
  • Client User: Steve Jobs, Tim Cook, Jony Ive

Even if you deal with a freelancer (who is just a single individual), this freelancer should be added first as the Client and then also set up as a Client User.

The reason for this is that each user will need their own login, their own notifications, and their own tasks.

This image below shows “Client Users” organized inside a “Client”.
